The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Unit received special recognition earlier today.
Each year, the sheriff’s office sends resource deputies to the annual Florida Association of School Resource Officers (FASRO) conference. This year, the conference was held in Orlando. Every year, one agency is selected as the agency of the year after a FASRO committee reviews applications which are submitted by the various agencies. We are pleased to announce that our agency was honored with this award for the 2020-2021 school year. Sheriff Mark Hunter, Superintendent Lex Carswell, along with representatives from our school district and our school resource deputies attended the ceremony.
In a statement, Sheriff Hunter said, “It is very exciting for our agency to be recognized. Our community can take pride in our school resource program and we appreciate the dedication of our deputies to keep our schools safe and invest in the lives of our youth.”
Superintendent Carswell stated, “I want to congratulate and thank Sheriff Hunter and the men and women of the School Resource Unit. This award accurately reflects their hard work and willingness to protect and serve our children and staff.”
Please join us in congratulating our school resource deputies on this accomplishment as we also extend our appreciation for their dedication to our schools and students.
