On Wednesday May 5, 2021, deputies apprehended an attempted murder suspect at the Best Western Motel located on Florida Gateway Dr. The arrest resulted from a shooting incident which occurred on the evening of Wednesday April 25, 2021 on Highway 90 West near the I-75 interchange.
Joshua Bell Farmer (27) of Lake City was arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder and other weapons offenses.
After a week’s long investigation, Farmer was located at the Best Western Motel in Lake City and was taken into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, Farmer, a convicted felon, had a firearm in his possession.
In a statement, Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “Incidents like this serve as a reminder of the dangers law enforcement face each day. I am extremely proud of our deputies for their commitment to keep our community safe from violent individuals.”
Farmer was transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility and booked with a $1,050,000 bond.
