The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that our Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force was the recipient of the 2019 Florida Narcotic Officer’s Association Region II Unit of the Year Award. The award was presented last week at the 2019 FNOA Conference.
The MJDTF is part of the North Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Gateway Initiative and is led by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, who has partnered with the Lake City Police Department, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
The mission of this team is to identify, collect intelligence and evidence on and prosecute individuals for the importation and distribution of drugs in Columbia County. Their hard work and dedication often goes without recognition due to the nature of the investigations.
We are proud of the task force team members and their accomplishments. We look forward to their continued efforts in combatting drugs in our community. This award is just a small token compared to the real reward, which is creating a safer community.
“Day in and day out these quite professionals rid our streets of dangerous and sometimes deadly illegal drugs.” Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “I could not be prouder of their efforts and their continuing pursuit of a safer, drug free Columbia County.”
