On Friday, December 29, Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter recognized a national business organization for their support to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.
In a ceremony at the Sheriff’s Office, Select Rehabilitation LLC was presented with the Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Florida Sheriffs Association by Sheriff Hunter.
Select Rehabilitation oversees the rehabilitation program in Solaris Health Center in Lake City. Select Rehabilitation gave a substantial gift in honor of Mr. Harry Weaver, the first and longest serving President of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch. Gayle Crespo, Mr. Weaver’s daughter and director of the rehabilitation center accepted the plaque.
Mr. Weaver was FSYR president for over 30 years and was the architect of many of the successful programs in place today. His daughter Gayle grew up alongside many of the ranch alumni and the Ranch has a special place in her heart. Select Rehabilitation asked their staff to nominate charities to receive a donation from their company. Gayle nominated the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches and was subsequently selected to receive the gift.
The Florida Sheriffs Association has made protecting the youth of our state a priority. Since 1957, the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches has been the vehicle used by Sheriffs to help at risk youth turn their lives around and become productive adults. FSYR has helped over 136,000 children and families in Florida.
