On Tuesday, August 8, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the 400 block of Corwin Glen in unincorporated Columbia County due to a 911 call reporting a person had been shot.
At approximately 5:20 pm, the Columbia County Combined Communications Center received a 911 call where an argument could be heard. During the call, there was mention of a gun and later it was reported someone was shot.
When Deputies arrived, it was learned that an adult female at the residence was shot during an argument and that the shooter had left in a truck. Fire Rescue personnel treated and transported the female to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to her face.
Additional Deputies and Detectives responding to the scene began looking for the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. A short distance away near U.S. 41 and NW Baughn St, Deputies saw the vehicle and conducted a high risk traffic stop. The suspect, Steven Moot, 32 of Lake City was taken into custody without incident.
The victim’s condition is not known at the time of this release.
This is an active and on-going investigation.
