On Thursday, June 8, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested a dangerous fugitive that two days earlier shot at a bail bondsman in White Springs, Florida.
A CCSO warrants Deputy received information that Damon Crosby, 39 was seen in an apartment at the Cedar Park Apartments in Lake City. Deputies and Detectives cordoned off the building and had the occupants exit the apartment. Crosby did not exit immediately, therefore members of CCSO SWAT prepared to make a tactical entry to arrest him.
As SWAT was positioning for their entry, Crosby exited and surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident.
Crosby was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants from Columbia County and Hamilton County.
“CCSO’s partnership with the public has enabled us to remove a very dangerous person from our community.” Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “I’m proud of the outstanding job done by the Sheriff’s Office members on scene and for their dedication to keeping us safe.”
