On Wednesday, September 30, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Lake City man on multiple charges following a vehicle pursuit.
CCSO deputies were in the area of the Super 8 motel on SR 47 when they saw Christopher Jones, 43 whom they knew had a felony warrant for his arrest. Jones was in a vehicle and when the deputies attempted to pull him over, he drove off at a high rate of speed.
The deputies followed Jones and coordinated with other local agencies in an attempt to apprehend Jones. When Jones turned onto Arlington Rd, a deputy preformed the PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver causing Jones’ car to spin out and become disabled in a ditch, where he was taken into custody.
No civilians, deputies nor the suspect were injured during this pursuit.
Jones was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on the warrant for Violation of Parole with no bond, Fleeing and attempting to elude $10000 bond, Possession of a Controlled Substance $10000 bond, Reckless Driving $5000 bond and Resisting Office without Violence $5000 bond.
