On Wednesday, September 23, personnel from the Columbia County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force uncovered a major marijuana grow operation at 1357 SW Wilson Springs Rd.
The Drug Task Force began investigating a possible drug operation at a secluded rural home site in south Columbia County. As the investigation progressed, probable cause for a search warrant was developed. When detectives and CCSO deputies executed the search warrant, more than 1000 mature marijuana plants were located in an elaborate greenhouse located on the property.
Arrested at the scene was Todd Dorsett, 35 of Fort White for Marijuana Production and Marijuana Trafficking in excess of 25 lbs. or 300 plants. Dorsett was taken to the Columbia County Detention Facility and booked on a $350,000 bond.
Due to the scope, magnitude, and possibility of interstate trafficking, DEA has assumed the investigation. This case is active and on-going.
Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “This is a great example of fine work the Drug Task Force is doing to rid our community of drugs”.
The Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task force is comprised of law enforcement personnel from Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Lake City Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
