FDLE continues to investigate child death
LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement continues to investigate the death of a 16-month-old female child who was found deceased in a vehicle at 111 SW Stafford Court. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office asked FDLE to investigate because the child’s parents are employed by the 3rd Judicial Circuit. The child’s mother is assistant state attorney Wendy Timonera Kwon and the father is public defender Young Kwon.
Family members told investigators that the child’s father forgot to take her to daycare that morning and forgot she was in the vehicle until yesterday afternoon. The investigation remains active.

(Original release) Detectives Investigate Infant’s Death
On Tuesday, May 12, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to 111 SW Stafford Court to investigate a 16 month old infant’s death.
At 3:14 pm, the Columbia County Combined Communication Center received a 911 call where the caller stated the infant had been in a car and is no longer breathing. Deputies arrived with Fire Rescue and discovered the 16 month old deceased.
Due to the victim having relatives that routinely interact with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Mark Hunter requested that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement assume the investigation.
FDLE agreed to conduct the investigation which is active and on-going.
