Detectives have identified the victim as Gewedolyn Cart, 72 and next of kin has been notified. A presumptive ID on the male suspect is Robert Hupp, 79.
They are husband and wife that are reported as being estranged.
This in an active and ongoing investigation.
(Original release) Detectives Investigate Deaths
On Wednesday, May 13 the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the death of a man and woman at 419 SE Tribble Street in unincorporated Columbia County.
The investigation began at 12:49 pm when a mail carrier placing items in the mail box saw two bodies lying near the front door of the home and called 911.
From the initial observations it appears to be a murder/suicide with a firearm; however detectives are actively investigating the case. The names of the victim(s) and/or suspect are being withheld until positive identification and next of kin notification.
There are no indications of additional hazards or safety concerns for the public.
