On Monday, November 3, the local chapter of The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution honored two Columbia County Deputy Sheriffs for their part in saving the life of a two month old baby on March 7, 2014.
Lieutenant Katina Dicks and Deputy Brian Lucas were awarded the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal “in recognition of outstanding achievement and dedication to the maintenance of law and order.”
On March 7, Deputy Lucas was first on scene of a call with an unresponsive baby. He immediately began life saving CPR with Lt. Dicks joining him as emergency crews responded. Their decisive and timely actions were instrumental in the baby’s full recovery as stated by emergency personnel.
Sheriff Mark Hunter commented, “I am extremely proud of Lieutenant Dicks and Deputy Lucas, they are a great example of the Sheriff’s Office’s commitment of helping our community and keeping it safe.”
