Student Makes Hoax Call Triggering Lockdown
On Wednesday, April 23, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to Columbia High School due to a 911 call from an unknown person indicating another student had brought a weapon into the school.
The 911 call triggered emergency procedures by the school and the School Resource Deputies which included a lock down and restricted access to the school. The investigation has revealed that a student placed the call as a hoax. The student was located and admitted to the call.
An arrest is expected in this case. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and School Board takes the safety of our students extremely serious.
****UPDATE***
Arrested on scene was a student on charges of misuse of 911, making false report, and disturbing peace at a school. After being processed at the County Detention Facility, the student was released to their parent.
