At 3:18 pm Thursday, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to 3764 SW Wilson Springs Road due to a 911 call from a male reporting “a man had a gun was going to kill everyone”.
When deputies arrived, the caller told the deputies that Patrick James Dempsey, 32 armed himself during an argument with his girlfriend and made the threats. Numerous attempts were made to contact Patrick by phone and over the public address system in the patrol cars, but he refused to answer.
Due to the nature of the incident, the SWAT team was activated and responded. Continued attempts to talk Patrick into coming out failed and the SWAT deputies took Patrick into custody without incident or injury.
Patrick was charged with aggravated assault (domestic violence), possession of a firearm by a felon, and resisting an officer without violence. Patrick was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility where he is held without bond due to the domestic violence charge.
