In the early morning hours Saturday, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a robbery in progress at the S & S store, 3919 N US Hwy 441. The deputies saw the suspect’s vehicle speeding south on US 441. They attempted to stop the car, however it fled and a brief pursuit ensued. The driver eventually bailed out, ran into the woods where Deputy Todd Lussier gave foot chase and captured him. The money and other evidence were recovered from the vehicle.
Investigation revealed that Robert Bogosta, 29 entered the S & S store and handed a note to the clerk demanding money. During this exchange Bogosta acted as if he was retrieving a gun from beneath his jacket. The clerk complied and Bogosta began to leave. The store clerk had locked the door Bogosta was using to leave; therefore Bogosta threw a fire extinguisher through it and fled. The fire extinguisher struck another customer that was approaching the door, but he was not injured.
