In the early morning hours Friday, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a robbery in progress at the Shell Station, 3317 US Hwy 90 W. A white male had entered the store and attempted to distract the clerk by telling him there was a snake in the restroom. The clerk came out and found the male stealing items from behind the counter. When the clerk approached the male, the male battered the clerk and left the store with a bag of stolen items.
Deputy Latimer with K9 Zombie arrived and began a track of the suspect described as a white male 6 foot tall wearing jeans and a gray hoodie. Since K9 was tracking toward the Americas Best Value Inn, Deputy Lussier went into the lobby to determine if anyone had recently entered. It was learned that a male matching the description of the robber had entered room 110. Contact was made with Travis Pound inside the room and he was taken into custody without incident and the stolen property was recovered.
