On February 5, 2014, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was notified by U.S. Marshal Service they arrested Dennis Godden, 31 as a result of an active Columbia County warrant. Gooden was arrested without incident in Brevard County Fla., booked into their jail and later extradited to Columbia County where he is currently in jail.
The arrest was the result of an investigation which began on October 11, 2013 when the Stop and Shop Convenient Store at 7698 W US Hwy 27 in Fort White was robbed. It was reported a white male entered the store, displayed a large revolver and demanded money from the register. After receiving cash from the clerk, the suspect fled that area.
Detective Cody McIntyre worked with Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and High Springs Police Department, who had similar cases. The joint investigation produced witnesses that were interviewed and subsequently identified Godden as the robber. An arrest warrant was obtained for Godden and the marshals were alerted to his possible destination.
