On September 12, 2013, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was presented with a plaque by Danny Murray of Columbia County Cycles for its support of the All Gave Some, Some Gave All Ride to benefit the American Legion Post 57 Service Officer’s Fund.
Along with the plaque, a letter was presented as well, stating the following kind words-
On Saturday, July 13, 2013 members of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office came out to assist with escort and traffic control to assure the safety of riders who came in support of this benefit ride. The route laid out by Riders with Caring Hearts gave Deputies and members of FHP Troop B a number of logistical challenges that coupled with weather that deteriorated as the ride progressed presented the Deputies with a number of challenges.
In spite of these challenges both the Deputies of Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and members of Florida highway Patrol Troop B came through once again. As we left Roundtree Moore Toyota and proceeded through the county, we witnessed a number of Law Enforcement Personnel blocking intersections, often standing in the rain, to assure rider safety. Thanks to all those involved, the ride was completed without incident and comments at the Legion after the fact praised the support shown by the Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol Troop B.
These days we hear all the negatives where Law Enforcement is concerned but rarely hear when a Deputy or agency does something positive. On behalf of all those in attendance, please accept our sincere gratitude for a job very well done and support above and beyond expectations.
