The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has made two arrests in a robbery that occurred on December 23, 2012. On that date, it was reported that an unknown male suspect cut off power to the Internet Café, 2240 U.S. 90 West, broke into the office and stole an undetermined amount of money. During the robbery to the open business, customers were present and witnessed the masked suspect commit the robbery.
On December 29, 2012, Detectives arrested an employee of the Internet Café, Carlos Ruiz, and an acquaintance of his, Zachary Waters. A thorough investigation led Detectives to determine that Waters planned the robbery and that Ruiz (employee) knew of the robbery scheme. The two suspects communicated via cell phone moments before the planned robbery occurred. Ruiz was working at the Internet Café the night of the robbery.
Both suspects were arrested at the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office without incident and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
