On Tuesday, September 25, 2012, a Columbia County man was arrested on robbery and other charges.
At approximately 3:30 pm, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence off S.W. Diamond Ct to investigate a reported robbery. Deputies interviewed the victim whom advised them that a male subject had stolen $150.00 from her purse while they stood on the side of the road. The victim reported that the suspect fled the scene on a scooter which struck her leg with the muffler. The suspect allegedly told the victim that he had a gun when he was fleeing the scene.
Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies began a search of the area and discovered the suspect’s scooter hidden in a shed behind a residence on SW Diamond Ct. Deputies searched the storage shed and discovered the suspect hiding inside. He was taken into custody without incident. Deputies were able to recover a .12 gauge shotgun and a 9mm handgun from the area the suspect was found hiding. Deputies also learned that the scooter driven by the suspect had been reported stolen out of Alachua County.
The suspect, Bruce Harris, was arrested on multiple charges and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
