On November 27, 2011, a home invasion robbery was reported at a residence on N.W. Jupiter Ct. A resident of the home reported that she was awoken by an armed gunman at approximately 4:00 a.m. The gunman was armed with an unknown type rifle. Two other suspects, armed with knives and baseball bats, accompanied the gunman. The suspects stole electronic items from the home and fled the area. The victim immediately called 911 and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded.
During the course of the investigation, deputies were able to identify one of the suspects. At 3:00pm on 11/27/2011, deputies located Melvin David West at 259 N.W. Divider St. West was arrested without incident. Deputies believe that a pellet type rifle was used in the robbery but has not been recovered. West was transported to and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
