The Columbia County Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force shut down two indoor marijuana growing operations Monday evening. Task Force Agents received information from the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office and working in conjunction with them, served a search warrant at 1534 S.W. Newark Dr, Ft. White, FL. Once inside, Agents discovered multiple live marijuana plants being grown in a bedroom of the home. The room had been modified to specifically cultivate marijuana, including special lighting, ventilation systems and irrigation. The plants were averaged 3 feet in height. Agents were able to seize over 20 live plants plus thousands of dollars worth of equipment.
Task Force agents made contact with the resident at the home next door to determine if he had any knowledge of the operation. While at this home, 1498 S.W. Newark Dr, Ft. White, FL, an indoor marijuana growing operation was discovered there. A search warrant for that home was obtained and served. Agents discovered a near identical set up as the first home. A bedroom and laundry room was full of live marijuana plants and the associated growing equipment. Agents seized over 60 live marijuana plants and the equipment.
Task Force agents estimate that the marijuana plants have a street value of $1000.00 each.
